Kelvin

Lord Kelvin was born in 1824 in Scotland as William Thompson.

At the age of 22, he was appointed at Glasgow university to the chair of Natural Philosphy.

He made contributions to electromagnetism, hydrodynamics and thermodynamics. He introduced the concept of absolute temperature and the scale of the absolute temperature is named in his honor. He also contributed to the formulation of the second law of thermodynamics.
