Why does Venus Shine so Bright?

(Physics Questions and Answers)

Venus has bright clouds all over its atmosphere. These clouds are excellent reflectors of sunlight that falls on the planet and this makes the planet appear brighter than other planets.

The percentage of sunlight reflected from a body is called the body's albedo. Venus has an albedo of about 75% as compared to planets like mercury which do not reflect much of the light falling on them. Even the moon has an albedo of only about 12%.
